Holy Spirit Church (Anglican), Rev. Charles Reeder, rector
The Book of Common Prayer 2011
The Book of Common Prayer, initially written in 1549 by the Church of England, (during the reign of Edward VI), was a product of the English Reformation following the break with Rome. It has been revised several times in the last 400 years.
The most recent revision, edited by Fr. Keith Acker, the son of Jack and Rede Acker has recently been published and is now available for purchase (also online at bcp2011.info). Keith, who pastors a church in California (Alpine Anglican Church of the Blessed Trinity, REC/ACNA), will be here in Denver to visit his folks on Tuesday August 30th. He has agreed to have an informational meeting for those interested in this new endeavor.
Shirley Quinlan has invited Keith to explain how he went about modernizing this very old prayer book. He will gladly have a question and answer session at 6:30 p.m. at the Corbin Manor on the 30th. All are invited for a time of refreshment followed by Evening Prayer at 7:00.
Please let Shirley know if you would like to attend so that she can arrange for the refreshments. Thanks, and please come if you find this a fascinating topic.
